“I’m not fit enough to start CrossFit”
Myth.
There is no standard of fitness that you need to reach before starting CrossFit. You are starting CrossFit so you can get fit!
And you’re choosing CrossFit because you’ve seen the incomparable results. They are the same results that have you too scared to even start.
What other fitness program do people say “I’m not fit enough to start” – zero.
The only thing you need to start CrossFit is an open mind and a willingness to learn.
Here are some of the most common reasons we hear against starting CrossFit.
1. I can’t even do a pull up
It’s strange to imagine a CrossFit class where the room is split in two – people on one side performing rep after rep of pull ups, and people on the other side of the room just standing under the bar watching them, unable to perform a pull up and wishing they could.
This could not be further from the truth.
Every single person in class is individually scaled to a pull up option that it suitable to their level of strength and fitness.
You might be doing pull ups, or you might use a band for your pull up, or perform a ring row (horizontal pull), or a bent over row with a 5kg dumbbell.
Every single movement is tailored for you. You will never be left to watch other people do movements that you can’t.
2. I need to get my fitness up before I join
That’s like saying “It’s dinner time and I’m hungry, so I better have a snack before dinner to prepare myself for dinner”. That’s what dinner is for?
CrossFit is the most effective training tool on the planet. It just works.
It works so well that people are too scared to even try.
Why would you waste time and money on something that is easy, in preparation for something that will get you to your goals much faster? Why not just simply start working on your goals today?
3. CrossFit seems too intense
High intensity training is no longer exclusive to CrossFit classes.
HIIT literally stands for High Intensity Interval Training. Heard of it?
The intensity of your training is where you see the results. Gone are the days of gyms convincing you that spending 45 minutes on a treadmill at a pace between a walk and a run is effective. You can’t watch TV while exercising and see results like the good old days.
4. I don’t want to get bulky
This one is my favourite! It is most popular with women but we hear it from men as well.
You will not get bulky from CrossFit. Period.
You might get “bulky” if you change your nutritional habits and eat in excess.
CrossFit is the hardest style of training you have ever done, but this is not a licence to eat anything you want at any time.
You will see amazing results even faster if you dial in your nutrition. This is why we offer a 12 week entry program which includes unlimited access to CrossFit classes and your own personalised nutritional coach.
5. I can only make it three times a week, it’s not worth it
Coming to CrossFit three times a week far outweighs the benefits of the gym membership you have that doesn’t inspire you to turn up at all.
How much are you willing to pay to get the results you want and live a happier, longer and healthier life?
What price do you put on your long-term health? $10 a week? $59 a week? Everything you have?
We know people are nervous when they first walk in our doors for their trial. We understand. We were also beginners once, and we meet beginners every week.
Your trial is one-on-one with a coach so we can get to know you and make you feel comfortable.
Your trial is free, and there is no commitment. Still don’t like it? You don’t need to join!
And if you join and find it’s not for you – we have no contracts.
Why? We know it works. We are not interested in locking people into a gym contract that they don’t want to be a part of. We only want to be surrounded by those who are open and willing.
