Why CrossFit Works.

Why CrossFit Works.

You’ve almost certainly heard about CrossFit by now. Perhaps it was at a party when someone was telling you all about their “Fran” time, or maybe you have watched the CrossFit Games and noted that 30 bar muscle ups just do not look that hard.

But why is it that people who do CrossFit just cannot stop talking about it? Why do the Games athletes look like they are carved from stone? It’s because CrossFit works. And here’s why:

  1. You will actually go to the gym

You might buy a normal gym membership in the hope that it motivates you to turn up a few times a week. If you do not use it, you do not feel the expense anyway because you get what you pay for which is not much.

But even so, eventually the motivation is lacking, you use the same machines and movements daily, and you struggle to consistently get fitter and stronger. In other words, the treadmill is boring, the people taking mirror selfies of their muscles is boring and doing bis & tris every Tuesday & Thursday is BORING.

You will see results with CrossFit because you will actually use your membership. Probably every day. Even when you join and tell us you are only looking for twice a week. You come to see your friends, you come because every day is so different from the last and you come because you actually get coached on new and effective movements!

  2. CrossFit is hard

If you want results, you have to work hard. And working hard is not always the easy or fun option. When you train alone, it is far easier to cut rounds off your workouts, or take the intensity down. When you are in a group CrossFit class, you are surrounded and encouraged by people who are giving 100% intensity, and you do the same.

  3. Success is measurable

CrossFit has standards for every movement. In a push up, your chest must touch the ground for the rep to count. If you are unable to perform a full rep, you take it to your knees where your chest must still touch the ground. If unable to perform a full rep, you take it to a box and your chest must touch the box.

There are no shortcuts, which means we (and you) can easily judge the success of a movement and the success of your progress. It is easy to feel like you are making no progress in your fitness, but with CrossFit all of your scores are logged, recorded and compared to previous scores. The evidence of your success is clear, and it keeps you motivated and working hard.

  4. You have a community

Your community starts with your relationship with your coaches. We hold you accountable to your goals and we are not afraid to call you out when you are not putting in the effort you committed to.

From there, you are surrounded by like minded people every workout. Misery loves company, and suffering together forms bonds and a community. Some of those people will become your best friends, because you become that person who won’t stop talking about CrossFit at a party, and only fellow CrossFitters will understand why!

If you are struggling to see results or struggling with motivation, it is time to finally try CrossFit. Most of our new members say they consider starting for months or even years before they finally take the plunge, and then they just wish they had started sooner.

We are so confident in the fact that CrossFit works that we have no contracts. We know your results and enjoyment will be what keeps you coming back, not a signed piece of paper.
